Spanish white wines are considered refreshing and varied. They are the absolute opposite to the rich and dry red wines that are so characteristic of Spain. Usually Spanish white wines distinguish themselves through properties such as mildness and fruity elegance. While Spanish white wine gained worldwide recognition primarily through the growing regions of Catalonia and Rueda, the island of Mallorca also contributes to the large diversity.
The Bodega Biniagual presses white wine as well. As for all wines from the Biniagual bodega we only use grapes from our vineyards, which surround the winery and the village, for the production. That way we ensure the high quality of our wine. Especially the autochthonous vine variety Prensal Blanc has adapted perfectly to the climate of the island. We use it as main grape variety for our white wines.
Spanish white wine often is labeled with the designation D.O, which stands for Denominación de Origen. D.O is known for the origin of the most famous and classic Spanish wines and is a sign of quality, since wines have to pass strict quality controls to get this label. The Bodega Biniagual also is D.O classified and is part of the D.O of Bianissalem, the first D.O of Mallorca.
